For the past 18 months I have been delivering weekly photography workshops to kids aged between 7 and 11 years old in several local Primary schools (West Dunbartonshire) here in Scotland. Due to identity protection it has, understandably, not been possible to post copies of outcomes from these sessions. However, the school I am working with at present, Carleith Primary, put together a short video of their workshops and this was recently presented during the ‘Amazing Things’ awards for education at Clydebank Museum and Art Gallery. It was a very enjoyable challenge working with so many kids with so many ideas. It was heartening to see that the children embraced the idea of working exclusively with iPhones and iPads, there was none of the ‘it’s not a proper camera’ attitude that seems to divide the photography community these days.
